Mechanism of action: Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) is located in the microsome lumen of liver cells and small intestinal cells. It was discovered after apolipoprotein B (apoB) and is involved in triglyceride transport and very low-density lipoprotein assembly. Endoplasmic reticulum luminal protein is one of the important lipid transport proteins. This product can directly bind and inhibit MTP, thereby preventing the assembly of apoB-containing lipoproteins in intestinal epithelial cells and hepatocytes, and inhibiting the synthesis of chylomicrons and very low-density lipoproteins. Inhibiting the synthesis of very low-density lipoprotein can reduce plasma low-density lipoprotein.

use:

The drug is approved for use with a low-fat diet and other lipid-lowering drugs to treat homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH).

Indications:

Lomitapide is suitable for patients with HoFH as an adjunct to low-fat diet (energy supplied from fat <20%) and other lipid-lowering treatments. It can also be used as an adjunct to LDL blood separation and replacement to reduce LDLC in patients with HoFH. , total cholesterol (TC), apoB and non-HDL cholesterol.

Biological activity:

Lomitapide Mesylate is a potent inhibitor of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) used to treat familial hypercholesterolemia.
